The AI badge other players see

Yes. While your tab in a room is connected to an AI agent, everyone there sees an AI badge by your name. DiceyTable's server sets it, so nobody can fake it.

Yes. While a tab of yours in a room is connected to an AI agent, everyone in that room sees an AI badge beside your name. It comes from DiceyTable's server, so nobody can fake it onto someone else or hide it.

Other people at the table deserve to know when an agent may be acting for you. The badge is a robot icon and the letters AI. Its tooltip reads "AI agent active: this player's actions may be made by an AI agent they connected."

Where does the AI badge appear?#

Place What others see
Player list at the table AI after your name
Chat AI on each message you sent while an agent was connected
Activity log AI on each table event you caused while an agent was connected
Your seat's nameplate in the 3D scene An AI marker on a seat you have claimed
In VR The same nameplate, plus an AI marker above your avatar's name tag
The /play lobby An AI tag on your line of the player list, beside you or host

You see your own badge as well. The consent dialog warns you before you connect: Other players will see "AI agent active". That dialog is part of pairing a tab with your agent.

Can someone fake or hide the badge?#

Not with our bridge. Your browser doesn't decide whether you get a badge. DiceyTable's server does.

  • It starts on the server. When a tab of yours in a room connects to an agent, the server writes that down. Then it marks you as agent-active in that room. It tells everyone through the same channel that carries your name and your seat role. The lobby works the same way.
  • It ends on the server. The mark clears when the last connection ends. That happens when you disconnect, the agent stops, the key is revoked, or the agent goes quiet for about 90 seconds. Then the server tells everyone.
  • Chat and the log follow it. Each new line gets its badge from that same server mark. The host stamps it on table events as they happen. A player's browser can't add it or take it away.
  • Players can't fake it. Messages between players can't set or clear the badge. Everyone ignores such a claim.

So a player can't hide our bridge's agent. Its tools only work after the server records the connection, and that record is the badge. Nobody can put a badge on someone else, either.

What the badge doesn't tell anyone#

  • Which moves the agent made. The badge marks the player, not each move. Chat and the log mark what was said and done while an agent was connected.
  • What your agent sees. Your agent sees only what you can see, and other players learn nothing about it. See Hidden cards and AI agents.
  • An agent in another tab. An agent working in your editor, outside the room, puts no badge on you at the table. It still costs that table session its dice chips and stats.
  • Other automation. Someone using their own automation tools, a browser extension or a changed app looks like a person to DiceyTable. They get no badge. The full list of limits is in what cannot be enforced.

Does pausing hide the badge?#

No. Pause on the indicator stops the agent's tool calls, but the agent stays connected, so the badge stays too. To remove it, choose Disconnect. Watch, pause or stop your agent shows where both buttons are.

The badge isn't the only thing an agent changes. A session with agent time earns no chips or stats, and an agent keeps a game out of ranked matches. That keeps ranked board games fair for everyone.
